Leagues Cup 2026 delivered another dramatic night on Wednesday as the race for the Quarterfinals continued to take shape, with comebacks, late goals and penalty shootouts defining Matchday 8.
Club León produced one of the night's biggest statements, rallying from behind twice to defeat Inter Miami CF 3-2 and complete a perfect Phase One with nine points. Daniel Arcila scored twice in the second half, while Diber Cambindo came off the bench to provide two assists as La Fiera secured its place in the Quarterfinals and eliminated Miami.
Toluca also punched its ticket to the next round with a convincing 3-1 victory over FC Dallas at Estadio Nemesio Diez, while CF Monterrey kept its hopes alive in dramatic fashion as Hugo Cuypers scored in stoppage time to complete a 2-1 comeback over Nashville SC. Elsewhere, Chivas rallied to eliminate defending champion Seattle Sounders FC, while Orlando City and LAFC needed penalty shootouts to earn extra points. San Diego FC closed the night with a 3-2 victory over Puebla, although the result was not enough to extend its Leagues Cup campaign.
Club León 3 vs Inter Miami 2
Inter Miami entered the night needing a regulation victory to keep its Quarterfinal hopes alive and took the lead twice, but León delivered a spectacular second-half response to complete a perfect Phase One.
Dániel Pintér gave Miami the advantage late in the first half before Daniel Arcila equalized shortly after the break. Yannick Bright quickly restored Miami's lead, but Juan Domínguez made it 2-2 before Arcila struck again to complete his brace and León's 3-2 comeback.
Diber Cambindo transformed the match after entering at halftime, assisting both of Arcila's goals as León finished Phase One with three victories over MLS opposition and nine points. Miami, meanwhile, was eliminated from the competition
Orlando City 2 (5) vs Atlético San Luis 2 (3)
Orlando City appeared headed toward a regulation victory after goals from Daryl Dike and Justin Ellis gave the Lions a 2-0 advantage, but Atlético de San Luis produced a dramatic late comeback.
Sebastián Pérez-Bouquet pulled one back in the 78th minute before David Rodríguez equalized deep into second-half stoppage time to force a penalty shootout.
Orlando converted all five of its attempts from the spot, while goalkeeper Javier Otero denied Aldo Cruz to give the Lions the extra point. Despite the shootout victory, Orlando's five points were not enough to continue its Leagues Cup campaign.
Monterrey 2 vs Nashville 1
Nashville could hardly have asked for a better start, with Ahmed Qasem scoring just 21 seconds into the match for the second-fastest goal in Leagues Cup history.
Monterrey refused to go away. Orbelín Pineda equalized in the 52nd minute before the decisive moment arrived in stoppage time. Diego Rossi delivered a cross to Lucas Ocampos, whose header found Hugo Cuypers for the winning goal.
Cuypers' strike gave Rayados a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory and kept their Quarterfinal hopes alive, while Nashville was eliminated from contention. Cuypers has now scored in all three of Monterrey's Leagues Cup matches.
Toluca 3 vs FC Dallas 1
Toluca made its home-field advantage count once again, defeating FC Dallas 3-1 at Estadio Nemesio Diez to secure its place in the Quarterfinals.
Alexis Vega opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the eighth minute, but Dallas responded almost immediately through Petar Musa. Federico Viñas restored Toluca's advantage in first-half stoppage time before Erick Gutiérrez added the third shortly after halftime.
The victory gave Toluca its second win in as many matches at Estadio Nemesio Diez during Phase One and officially sent Los Diablos Rojos into the next round. Dallas was eliminated despite winning its opening two matches
San Diego 3 vs Club Puebla 2
San Diego FC did its part with a 3-2 victory over Puebla at Snapdragon Stadium, but the result was ultimately not enough to extend its Leagues Cup campaign.
Osvald Søe put San Diego ahead in the fourth minute before Kevin Velasco equalized for Puebla. David Vazquez restored the home side's advantage in the 76th minute, and Dagur Thórhallsson scored four minutes later to make it 3-1.
Eduardo Mustre pulled one back for Puebla in the 87th minute, but San Diego held on for its second consecutive home victory. The result gave San Diego six points from Phase One, but it was not enough to secure a place in the Quarterfinals.
LAFC 1 (5) vs Querétaro 1 (3)
LAFC controlled possession and pushed for a winner throughout the night, but Querétaro made the Black & Gold work for every point at BMO Stadium.
Alí Ávila gave Gallos Blancos the lead in the 12th minute after reacting to a rebound inside the area. LAFC eventually found its response in the second half, with Denis Bouanga scoring the equalizer in the 57th minute.
The match went to penalties, where LAFC converted all five of its attempts to claim the extra point with a 5-3 shootout victory. Bouanga's goal was his 15th in Leagues Cup, moving him past Lionel Messi to become the tournament's outright all-time leading scorer. LAFC finished Phase One unbeaten and must now wait on the remaining results to determine its Quarterfinal fate.
Chivas 2 vs Sounders 1
Chivas entered Lumen Field already eliminated, but El Rebaño Sagrado ended the defending champions' hopes with a 2-1 comeback victory in front of a large contingent of Guadalajara supporters.
Seattle took the lead in the 13th minute through Gallatin Sandnes, but Chivas turned the match around after halftime. Luis Gabriel Rey equalized in the 61st minute before Santiago Sandoval headed home the winner 11 minutes later.
The victory gave Chivas its first win of the 2026 tournament and eliminated Seattle from Quarterfinal contention, bringing the Sounders' title defense to an end
