MATCHDAY 2: Inter Miami vs Atlas starts off night of six games at Leagues Cup

After an electrifying first night of games, Leagues Cup 2025 has another six-game lineup on Wednesday. Liga MX dominated the opening night of games, winning 5 out of 6 matches and outscored MLS teams 14-7 overall.

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami will lead things off as they host Atlas for their first ever meeting. The 2023 Leagues Cup champions will be getting Messi and Jordi Alba back from their one-game suspensions for missing the All-Star game. Atlanta United is still looking for their first win in Leagues Cup, they'll host Necaxa at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.

Keylor Navas will play in his first Leagues Cup as Pumas travels to Orlando for a matchup against the lions. Querétaro is off to an 0-0-3 start to their Liga MX season, and now go play at a tough Allianz Stadium in Minnesota. Club América will visit Real Salt Lake where they'll potentially be unveiling their latest signing, José Zuñiga. Finally, Atlético San Luis looks for their first ever Leagues Cup win as they travel north to face the Timbers at Providence Park.

INTER MIAMI vs. ATLAS (Chase Stadium, 7:30 p.m. ET)

The second day of Leagues Cup action will feature Inter Miami FC, which means all eyes will be on Fort Lauderdale as the MLS side host Atlas FC in their´tournament openers.

Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, Luis Suárez and company will work to display their offensive power showed during the MLS season, as they will try to take advantage of a Rojinegros team that has struggled defensively as of late.

Atlas has conceded eight goals in their first three Apertura 2025 games this season, and this 2025 Leagues Cup debut will serve as a tough test to show they have more to offer.

NECAXA vs. ATLANTA UNITED (Mercedes Benz Stadium, 7:30 p.m. ET)

Atlanta United kicks off its 2025 Leagues Cup campaign at home against a formidable Liga MX opponent in Club Necaxa. Known by some as the “Mexican Wrexham” due to its celebrity ownership group—featuring Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria—Necaxa is set to debut in a new reality show just a week after their Leagues Cup opener.

Atlanta will be looking for redemption after last year’s Leagues Cup campaign ended with a disappointing loss to Santos Laguna. One advantage for the Five Stripes is the schedule as two of their three group-stage matches will be played at home, including the opener.

A major storyline entering this Leagues Cup is the performance of Atlanta’s Designated Players. For United to advance to the knockout rounds, their stars must live up to expectations—and the supporting cast will need to step up as well.

PUMAS UNAM vs. ORLANDO CITY (Inter&Co Stadium, 8 p.m. ET)

In a matchup of contrasting styles and philosophies, Orlando City brings an attacking third that can do real damage if Pumas’ defense isn’t set to breakdown plays from the likes of Pašalić, Muriel, and Ojeda.

Pumas have an X-factor in Ecuadorian Pedro Vite, who is getting his feet wet in Liga MX but is coming off a sensational run of form with the Vancouver Whitecaps. Vite could be the attacking spark Juárez was hoping for to get his Pumas team back on track.

MINNESOTA UNITED vs. QUERÉTARO (Allianz Field, 8:30 p.m. ET)

These two sides have a lot in common. Both Minnesota United and Querétaro are teams that play against the ball and suck up the pressure. They utilize set pieces and counterattacks to create chances plus defensive solidity to manage the game. Fans may be in for a match of waiting to see who blinks first.

CLUB AMÉRICA vs. REAL SALT LAKE (America First Field, 9:30 p.m. ET)

This matchup has everyone talking, as the second day of action in Leagues Cup will feature a Real Salt Lake team that is coming in hot and a Club América side that is always a favorite to win every tournament it plays.

Real Salt Lake has won four games in the month of July and look to finish it strong against the team with most trophies in Liga MX history.

With that said, the Águilas supporters are very much looking forward to this tournament, as they look to become the first Mexican team to win the Leagues Cup to add one more trophy to their 10 different international championships.

PORTLAND TIMBERS vs. ATLÉTICO SAN LUIS (Providence Park, 10:30 p.m. ET)

One of the best match atmospheres in MLS awaits when the Portland Timbers host Atlético de San Luis on Wednesday at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon.

Records could be broken when the Portland Timbers and Atlético de San Luis meet for the first time.

The MLS side will seek to continue its undefeated mark in opening matches at the Leagues Cup. On the opposite side, the Mexican club will be out to end a winless run over the past two editions.
