Toluca and Monterrey will meet on Sunday, September 6, in the 2026 Leagues Cup Final at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas, with kickoff set for 8:15 p.m. local time (9:15 p.m. ET, 7:15 p.m. MT, 6:15 p.m. PT). The match will be available on Apple TV and Univision in the U.S. and on Imagen TV in Mexico.
Both clubs are competing for their first Leagues Cup title, with the winner earning direct entry into the Round of 16 of the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup. However, both Toluca and Monterrey have already secured their places in the competition through other qualification paths.

The final could come down to which team is better able to impose its style without giving the opponent space to play in transition. Toluca has shown strong defensive organization, while Monterrey has relied on its depth and ability to adjust during matches.
Antonio Mohamed has stressed the importance of patience and defensive discipline. That approach will be especially important against a Monterrey side capable of creating chances late in matches. Toluca will need to remain compact without becoming too passive, while taking advantage of the opportunities it creates.
For Monterrey, Matías Almeyda enters the championship match with a group he says has made significant progress in a short period. Almeyda has praised his players' attitude and ambition while acknowledging the quality and experience of Mohamed's Toluca. Rayados will look to maintain that confidence without allowing the occasion to alter their approach.
With the Leagues Cup title on the line, the opening goal could be especially important. Toluca will look to maintain its shape, while Monterrey will aim to create opportunities without losing its balance.
The match also pits two experienced Argentine coaches against each other, with ‘El Turco’ seeking another trophy with Toluca and ‘El Pelado’ aiming for his first title with Monterrey.
If the teams remain level after 90 minutes, the championship will be decided by a penalty shootout, adding another layer of pressure to a Final that already carries significant weight for both clubs.
The team that best manages the pressure, takes its chances and avoids mistakes in key moments could have the edge in Houston.
