Tough loss for CF Monterrey! Germán Berterame out of the Classico Regio against Tigres due to fracture

CF Monterrey announced that Germán Berterame suffered a fractured left foot in the match against Portland Timbers, last Friday, August 4, and will miss the remainder of this Leagues Cup 2023, including August 8th’s **Clasico Regio** against **Club Tigres**.

"Berterame will travel to Monterrey to be evaluated by specialist doctors and determine the treatment to follow," Rayados said in a statement.

The Argentine striker played all 90 minutes against the Timbers, but had to leave the pitch due to his injury.

During Rayados' Leagues Cup debut on Wednesday, July 26, Germán scored twice to lead his team to a 3-0 win over Real Salt Lake.

In Monterrey’s second match of the tournament, Berterame contributed a hat-trick after the team gave up two goals in the first six minutes.

Germán Berterame was second place among goal scorers in the Leagues Cup 2023 with five goals, tied with Brandon Vázquez (FC Cincinnati) and Lionel Messi (Inter Miami CF). The current leader is the South African Bongokuhle Hlongwane with six goals.

Germán Berterame has been playing in LIGA MX for more than four years. He entered the league with Atlético de San Luis, where he scored 17 goals in 37 matches. By 2022 he was signed by CF Monterrey, where he has 11 goals in three tournaments.
