Not only was the scoreline convincing, but the team was also more dominant in their overall play, with Lionel Messi at the heart of it all. The Florida outfit’s next match-up will be against the Philadelphia Union.
The Argentinian forward saw out the result by scoring his team’s fourth goal in the 86th minute, after a cutback from Leonardo Campana. But beyond the flurry of goals, Messi was also a key presence in midfield, and alongside Sergio Busquets ensured that his team enjoyed 62% of possession during the game.
Messi was also responsible for four of the nine shots on target that Inter Miami CF managed on Charlotte FC shot-stopper Kristijan Kahlina’s goal, and took three corners. The Argentine also drew three fouls, while not committing any himself.
