During Leagues Cup 2023, we’ve witnessed Messi’s goal-scoring prowess. In just six matches, he’s already scored ten goals for Inter Miami CF.

But during the semifinal against the Philadelphia Union, we watched Messi do something he had never done. He scored the longest goal of his career.

With Inter Miami already up 1-0, Messi received a pass from Josef Martinez  and dribbled the ball into the attacking third. Union goalkeeper Andre Blake wasn’t positioned well and Messi took advantage, smacking a shot from 32.1 meters away and finding the back of the net. His previous record was a goal from 31.7 meters away against Real Sociedad on January 14, 2018.

With a trip to the final secured, Messi is just 90 minutes way from reaching another major milestone: being the player with the most-ever career titles. He currently has 42, tied with Dani Alves. But if he wins the Leagues Cup title he’ll be alone on top.
