CF Monterrey remain unbeaten against MLS opposition in knockouts

RAYADOS UNBEATEN

CF Monterrey are yet to lose in a knockout tie against teams from MLS. The LIGA MX side had already beaten Real Salt Lake and the Seattle Sounders in the Leagues Cup 2023 group stages, as well as seeing off the Portland Timbers in the round of 16. Now, Rayados have now knocked out the reigning MLS Cup champions and finalists of the CONCACAF Champions League in Los Angeles FC.

The Mexican outfit have only lost 2 of their 21 official match-ups against teams from the United States. However, neither of those two defeats saw them directly eliminated from a competition. Their two losses came against the Seattle Sounders in 2012 and Atlanta United FC in 2019. The first was in the CONCACAF Champions League group stages, while the second match was in a quarter-final tie that Rayados won on aggregate anyway.

Out of those 21 games, CF Monterrey have won 17, drawn 2, and lost 2. In total, they have scored 56 times and conceded 18 goals against teams from north of the border.
