This 2023 edition of Leagues Cup had an otherworldly average of goals: in 30 matches played, the 45 teams that have already played have scored 105 goals, resulting in an average of 3.5 goals per game.

When compared to the tournament that brings together teams from the United States, Canada, and Mexico with the performance in Major League Soccer and LIGA MX, the average number of goals per match is almost one more per game played.

So far in the MLS season, the 29 teams that make up the league have played a total of 336 matches and scored 888 goals. On the other hand, the 18 teams in LIGA MX played three rounds of the Apertura 2023, and in 26 matches, they scored 66 times.

While MLS has an average of 2.64 goals per game, the Mexican championship contributes 2.53.

In the 30 matches played in the tournament, three players are leading the top scorers' table with four goals each: Hungarian Daniel Gazdag (Philadelphia Union), South African Bongokuhle Hlongwane (Minnesota United FC), and American Brandon Vázquez (FC Cincinnati).

Players who scored a hat-trick in a single match:

So far, three players have scored three goals in a single match: Daniel Gazdag (Philadelphia Union), Giacomo Vrioni (New England Revolution), and Brandon Vázquez (FC Cincinnati). These hat-tricks were scored during the second round of the tournament.

At the age of 38, Sierra Leonean player Kei Kamara became the oldest goal scorer in the tournament, in the 3-2 victory of Chicago Fire FC over Minnesota United FC.

The aforementioned Brandon Vázquez holds the record for the fastest goal, scored just 85 seconds into the game, in FC Cincinnati's 3-1 victory against Chivas de Guadalajara.

The star of Inter Miami CF has already scored three goals in his two appearances, and last Tuesday, Atlanta United FC became the 100th club he has scored against in his career.

Brazilian goalkeeper Tiago Volpi scored a penalty goal in the victory of his team, Toluca FC, with a score of 4-3 against Nashville SC, making him the only goalkeeper to have scored a goal in Leagues Cup 2023.
