It'll be an MLS team being crowned champion of the Leagues Cup once again as they went a perfect 4-for-4 in all the quarterfinal matchups.
The Herons and Tigres kicked off the night with a thriller. In a match with no Lionel Messi, Inter Miami got a two-goal performance from Luis Suárez to hold off a charging Tigres squad.
The next two matchups lacked goals as both games saw the sides go all the way to penalties after 0-0 draws in regulation. Orlando's Pedro Gallese and Seattle's Andrew Thomas were the heroes coming through to help each of their teams advance to their first Leagues Cup semifinal.
The LA Galaxy capped off the night with the fourth MLS win, with a pair of first-half goals being all they needed to hold off Pachuca. Marco Reus scored his second goal of the tournament to help the home squad reach their first Leagues Cup semifinal where they will meet their old rivals, the Seattle Sounders.
INTER MIAMI 2, TIGRES UANL 1
Inter Miami CF faced a difficult test against Leagues Cup favorite Tigres, and the challenge quickly grew tougher. Javier Mascherano was shown a red card and forced to coach from the stands, Lionel Messi remained sidelined with an injury, and Leagues Cup all-time assist leader Jordi Alba had to be substituted after picking up a knock.
Despite the setbacks, Miami’s stars delivered. Luis Suárez opened the scoring in the first half with a penalty, and Ángel Correa added another in the second. With some fortune, Miami were awarded a second penalty, which Suárez converted to complete his brace.
ORLANDO CITY 0 (6), TOLUCA 0 (5)
Orlando City goalkeeper Pedro Gallese was the star of the show as he helped Orlando City advance 6-5 on penalties over defending Liga MX champions, Toluca FC, in the Leagues Cup quarterfinals.
In a clash between two of the top offenses in MLS and Liga MX, the teams played to a scoreless draw in regulation combining for just one shot on target.
Orlando moves on to play in their first Leagues Cup semifinal as they will take on their interstate rivals, Inter Miami.
SEATTLE SOUNDERS 0 (4), CLUB PUEBLA 0 (3)
The Seattle Sounders battled a tough opponent in Puebla but, in the end, grinded out a hard-fought win after a 90-minute stalemate sealing a spot in the Leagues Cup semifinals with a nail-biting 4-3 penalty shootout victory.
As expected, it was a tactical contest early on. Both teams spent the first half sizing each other up. Puebla’s struggling attack showed flashes under interim head coach Martín Bravo, who has had only a few days to instill his ideas. Still, it was the home side that generated the more dangerous chances.
LA GALAXY 2, PACHUCA 1
Next up: the Leagues Cup semifinals!
LA Galaxy are headed to the Leagues Cup 2025 final four as captain Marco Reus led a 2-0 victory over Pachuca at Dignity Health Sports Park on Wednesday night, eliminating the last remaining Liga MX team from the tournament.
With the win, the reigning MLS Cup champions secured their spot in the Leagues Cup 2025 semifinals, where they will host Seattle Sounders FC next Wednesday.
