Columbus Crew 3-0 FC Cincinnati

The hosts shook off what had been a frustrating elimination from Leagues Cup to cruise to a vital win in the Hell is Real derby. The win sees the Crew move into fifth place as their Eastern Conference-best attack continued to impress with a goal each for Cucho Hernández, Aidan Morris and Jacen Russell-Rowe.

New York City FC 0-2 Minnesota United FC

Dayne St. Clair made six saves for the visitors, who scored a pair of second half goals to improve on one of the league’s best away records, moving to ninth place in the process.

New York Red Bulls 1-0 D.C. United

John Tolkin scored two minutes from time, netting for the first time this season to move the hosts to within three points of the playoff positions.

Toronto FC 2-3 CF Montréal

The Canadian Classique was one of last night’s most entertaining matches – Federico Bernardeschi and Mathieu Choinière both netted braces, but the visitors were able to hold off a Toronto side which finished with ten men after the sending-off of Raoul Petretta in the second half.

Chicago Fire FC 1-3 Orlando City

Facundo Torres scored and added an assist as Orlando impressed from start to finish, moving to fourth place with their fourth win in five matches. Mauricio Pineda had opened the scoring for the hosts, but it was soon one-way traffic for Orlando, who proved that their league-best 21 points on the road is no accident.

Houston Dynamo FC 5-0 Portland Timbers FC

The hosts ended a lengthy winless run in style over Portland. Five different players got on the scoresheet for the hosts, who moved ahead of in-state rivals Austin FC into sixth place in the Western Conference.

St. Louis CITY SC 6-3 Austin FC

Houston’s five goals were impressive, but St. Louis CITY SC went one better at home against Austin FC in a nine-goal thriller. No team has scored more goals in the league this season than the expansion side, and they were at it again with Eduard Löwen getting a hat trick of assists and Nicholas Gioacchini netting a brace to move into double figures for the season.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC 0-1 San Jose Earthquakes

The visitors’ potent attacking duo of Jeremy Ebobisse and Cristian Espinoza combined for a first half goal, and their defence did the rest, with Daniel making seven saves in the ‘Quakes goal.

Seattle Sounders FC 0-2 Atlanta United FC

A brace for Giorgos Giakoumakis saw the Greek striker move into second place in the league scoring charts with a dozen goals on the season, and Atlanta earn some breathing room in seventh place.
