Cincinnati suffered a painful collapse at TQL Stadium, falling 2-1 to Atlas and missing an opportunity to secure its place in the 2026 Leagues Cup Quarterfinals. The loss leaves Cincinnati on six points and in sixth place in the MLS standings, forcing the club to wait for other results to determine whether its tournament run will continue.
The home side appeared to be in control after taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, with Brazilian playmaker Evander once again serving as the focal point of the attack. The No. 10 opened the scoring in the 44th minute, seemingly setting the stage for a celebration in Ohio. However, Cincinnati needed more production from players such as Pavel Bucha and Kévin Denkey to put the match away.
Instead, Atlas turned the game around in the second half, scoring twice to complete a 2-1 comeback and silence the home crowd. What looked like an opportunity for Cincinnati to take control of its own destiny quickly turned into a nervous wait for results elsewhere.
Despite the defeat, Cincinnati’s Quarterfinal hopes remain alive. The Ohio side will now need some help, with the results of Austin against Club América and Chicago Fire against Cruz Azul potentially determining whether Cincinnati can remain among the top four MLS clubs and advance to the next round.
