Mexican soccer legend to contribute to pregame programming and Spanish-language commentary
Toluca FC vs. Club León and Club América vs. CF Monterrey to compete Wednesday, September 2, for a place in the Leagues Cup Final
Leagues Cup today announced that Mexican soccer legend Javier “Chicharito” Hernández will join Apple TV’s coverage of the Leagues Cup 2026 Semifinals on Wednesday, September 2.
The Leagues Cup 2026 Semifinals will feature Toluca FC vs. Club León at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, TX and Club América vs. CF Monterrey at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA, with all four clubs one win away from the Leagues Cup Final. For the first time in the modern Leagues Cup era, four LIGA MX clubs have advanced to the Semifinals, adding a new chapter to the MLS vs. LIGA MX rivalry as the tournament enters its final stage.
Hernández will be on site at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston for Toluca FC vs. Club León, contributing to pregame programming across both English- and Spanish-language coverage before joining the Spanish-language commentary team as a second analyst alongside play-by-play commentator Pablo Ramírez and analyst Jesús Bracamontes.
Mexico’s all-time leading scorer, Hernández represented the Mexican National Team at three FIFA World Cups and starred for clubs including Chivas de Guadalajara, Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy during a career spanning LIGA MX, the Premier League, La Liga and Major League Soccer.
