A contender and an outsider: Los Angeles Football Club take on Real Salt Lake at Leagues Cup

Los Angeles FC are one of the favorites to go all the way at Leagues Cup 2023, having enjoyed an impressive season so far following their 2022 MLS Cup win. The Californian outfit entered the competition at the Round of 32 as a result of their league title win, and did so in resounding fashion with a 7-1 win over FC Juárez.

They've also been in good form in the MLS Western Conference so far, having won 10 games out of 23 and conceded fewer defeats than any other team

For tonight's round of 16 clash against Real Salt Lake, LAFC will also be spurred on by the fact that they are the home side.

RSL are level on points with tonight's opponents in MLS play, and were able to bounce back from a Leagues Cup group stage defeat to CF Monterrey by seeing off Club León 3-1 at the start of the knockout rounds. They'll be looking to carry on that upturn in form tonight to reach the quarter-finals.
