Jornada 11 of the 2023 Clausura is set to begin and there is still time to reach the Liguilla for teams who hope to qualify. With plenty of opportunities to pick up points and seek the top places, this weekend will see plenty of matches that are relevant to the chase for the Liguilla. Among these are a big clash at the Azteca between Cruz Azul and Pumas, as well as a great duel between Tigres and América. Here’s our preview of three of this round’s biggest matches.
Cruz Azul vs. Pumas: It looks to be a big match at the Estadio Azteca, with big implications for both sides. The visitors are in 11th place on 11 points, while La Maquina are in 12th place with 10 points. Both teams are coming off of very painful defeats in the last matchday and it is the ideal moment for a win that would help them seal their places in the Liguilla play-in rounds. As a bit of added spice Ricardo Ferretti will face his former team for the first time in charge of Cruz Azul.
Tigres vs América: This marks another tremendous matchup, with players that should make for an exciting matchup. Despite the fact that the hosts are in second place, Las Águilas are in sixth place, just four points back, so it will be a massive game for these two teams as the tournament approaches the run-in.
Pachuca vs. Monterrey: This match sees a clash of two teams that have been at the top of the table for some time. At one point, Los Tuzos were top, but they hit a rough patch and are now fourth overall, after defeating América. Rayados, meanwhile, are on a great run of form and, as leaders, they have not lost since the first match of the Clausura.
