We are deep into the 2023 Clausura and as we look back at a matchday full of emotion, there were several surprise results. While teams like Monterrey and Chivas are in great form, others like América and Cruz Azul saw their good runs come to an end. Here's our summary of what happened in the nine games played this round.

Mazatlán 3-1 Cruz Azul: One of the surprises of the matchday fell against La Máquina, who arrived on a streak of three consecutive victories, marking a strong start under Ricardo Ferretti, while the Sinaloan side had not won in the entire Clausura. Despite the fact that the light-blues took the lead with a goal from Uriel Antuna, they were soon pegged back as Rubén Omar Romano's team scored three goals from corner kicks to win for the first time in the 2023 Clausura.

Necaxa 0-1 Tigres: In this round, there was some movement at the top of the table, but Tigres remained well-positioned as they regained second place. Spurred on by a great goal by Fernando Gorriarán from outside the area, Tigres are now on 21 points.

Tijuana 1-1 Atlas: This was a very entertaining game between two teams that will have to finish in the best possible way to qualify for the Liguilla. Julio Furch scored for Los Rojinegros, while Lucas Cavallini scored his first goal with Los Xolos.

León 2-0 Atlético de San Luis: This was a big win for the home side, one that will raise their spirits ahead of the run-in. Just as it seemed that the two clubs were going to share the points, Brian Rubio put them ahead on 91 minutes and, four minutes later, youth squad player Héctor Yael Uribe scored from outside the area to make the final score 2-0.

América 0-3 Pachuca: This match at the Azteca was another of the surprising results of this round of fixtures. After not losing in their nine previous games, Las Águilas were clear favorites for this match, but ran into a veritable buzz saw as the visitors scored three times in 30 minutes with goals by Javier Eduardo López, Daniel Hernández and Roberto de la Rosa. Los Azulcremas fought until the end, but failed to score.

Monterrey 3-0 Juárez: Monterrey have been the best team in the tournament so far, and this result only confirmed as much. They now have eight wins, a draw and only one defeat, which was on Matchday 1. Víctor Manuel Vucetich's team did not stop this weekend with goals from Víctor Andrés Guzmán, Stefan Medina and Rogelio Funes Mori; they stay top on 25 points.

Chivas 2-0 Santos: El Rebaño Sagrado are in one of their best moments of recent years. They are now have four consecutive victories, after this encounter at Estadio Akron with a goal by Víctor Guzmán, who is in top form, and one of the best goals of the tournament by Fernando Beltrán.

Pumas 2-4 Puebla: It was a tough defeat for Pumas as La Franja came to Mexico City and left with three very important points. In the first 20 minutes, Pumas took the lead with a goal from Gustavo del Prete, but things were made difficult by a sending off. Two goals came from Puebla before Eduardo Salvio equalized on 69 minutes. However, it would a tough afternoon for the hosts as Ángel Robles and Federico Mancuello scored the winning goals.

Querétaro 1-0 Toluca: After having been yet to win in the 2023 Clausura, Los Gallos Blancos won for the first time against Los Diablos with Jonathan Torres scoring the game's only goal. Toluca had been in second place, but with this defeat they dropped to fifth place.
