Leagues Cup

NEW YORK AND MEXICO CITY (September 17, 2021)

The teams for the 2021 Leagues Cup final are set. Seattle Sounders and Club León will square off in the hopes of winning the title on September 22 (22 ET, 21 CT) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Sounders will arrive after defeating Santos Laguna in the first semifinal, played Tuesday in Seattle. The hosts won 1-0 with a goal from Raúl Ruidíaz in the last minute), having beaten Tigres in the quarterfinals, 3-0.

For their part, León dominated Pumas in the second semifinal, winning 2-0 in Houston with goals from Santiago Colombatto and Santiago Ormeño. In the quarterfinals, they had beaten Sporting Kansas City 6-1.

In addition to the match itself, as part of their commitment to support positive change in local communities, MLS and LIGA MX will also join forces ahead of the match as a means of giving back to the Las Vegas community. The two leagues will be offering soccer scholarships for local families to work with Las Vegas Diversity FC, whose mission is to introduce soccer to underserved youths of all ages. In addition, MLS and Liga MX will be providing new soccer equipment to the club and helping to offset the costs of education and certifications for coaching.

Leagues Cup is the official knockout tournament contested between Major League Soccer and Liga MX clubs. The Leagues Cup quarterfinals kicked off five weeks of matches pitting MLS and Liga MX teams against each other across August and September, including the MLS All-Star Game and culminating with the Campeones Cup the last week of September.
